No Mow May

Calendar

Description automatically generatedNO MOW MAY!

Want to “bee” part of helping pollinators this spring? You can by registering to participate in the City’s “NO MOW MAY” program. Registration is now closed for 2023, but you can still postpone mowing until your grass is six inches high this May! Weed and Grass Ordinance

NO MOW MAY is designed to allow bees and other pollinators a chance to thrive as they come out of hibernation. Not mowing grass during this time ensures the pollinators have plentiful food sources with studies showing the number of pollinators in “NO MOW MAY” areas have increased as much as five-fold!

The Saint Peter City Council has authorized the “NO MOW MAY” program for May, 2023. Property owners who registerd to participate and display the City provided signage (shown below) are provided a waiver from the tall grass regulations of the City during the month of May.

Charges to participate are as follows (cash or check only):

 • $5.00 participation fee
 • $20.00 deposit for participation lawn sign and stand. This amount will be refunded as a credit on the property owner’s utility bill upon return of the sign and stand in good condition. Signs/stands must be returned by no later than June 30, 2023 to ensure return of the deposit.
