Fall Hydrant Flushing Begins October 3rd

This process could make water cloudy temporarily.  Please check your water before doing laundry.

The Water Utility will begin fall hydrant flushing and flow testing between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. on October 3, 2022 and continue until all hydrants are flushed - approximately October 14, 2022.

1.  Improved Water Quality - Hydrants are flushed at least twice yearly to remove residue from the main pipe system, which helps keep our water clear.

2.  Fire Safety and Fire Rating - The Water Utility tests the flow at hydrants to ensure it is adequate to pump to the City’s fire tanker.  Hydrant flow is important in helping control fire insurance costs.

3.  Economic Development - Accurate flow information is available to prospective businesses and industries that are considering locations in Saint Peter.

The City of Saint Peter Department of Public Works, Water Utility thanks you for your patience and cooperation during our fall maintenance work.  We are proud to serve the citizens of Saint Peter.

For further questions contact Public Works at 507-934-0670.
