Administration

Building
The Building Department is responsible for issuing permits and conducting inspections to enforce state building code and city ordinance regulating building, mechanical, plumbing, demolition of structures and manufactured housing. Contact them for rental licenses and rental inspections.

Community Development
The Community Development Department directs the economic development and planning and zoning efforts of the city. The Director administers the established revolving loan accounts and supports industrial, commercial and residential development.

Electric
The City of Saint Peter Electric Utility provides electricity to approximately 4600 Saint Peter residences and businesses.

Finance / Utility Billing
The Finance Department is responsible for the financial health of the City. Services include UTILITY BILLING, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, financial reporting, insurance, investments and more.

Fire Department
The Saint Peter Volunteer Fire Department is an all-volunteer agency. Not only does the Department extinguish fires, it is actively engaged in public education, fire prevention, and rescue operations.

The Saint Peter Public Library welcomes all people and fosters a safe environment to connect, learn, discover, and grow.

Local Sales Tax
On November 2, 2021 eligible Saint Peter voters will consider a ballot question to finance construction of a new fire station. Information is presented here to inform voters.

Public Access
Public access television provides an effective means to an individual or community group to communicate their information and activities to a local audience. Public Access is free, non-commercial cable channels playing a variety of programs: governmental, informational, entertaining, or educational.

Public Works is responsible for the following utilities: Electric, Environmental Services, Stormwater, Water and Wastewater. Public Works oversees many facets of Saint Peter's infrastructure including Streets and Parks.

The City of Saint Peter Recreation and Leisure Services Department is committed to providing opportunities for all through recreation and leisure programs, activities, spaces, and facilities.

Minnesota River Valley Transit
Call (888) 880-4696 to schedule a ride or for same day pickup. Minnesota River Valley Transit provides local transportation in the Cities of Saint Peter and Le Sueur.

Water
The City of Saint Peter Water Utility is committed to providing clean and safe drinking water to the citizens of Saint Peter. In 2019, the City’s water was designated as the “best tasting water in Minnesota” by the Rural Water Association.
