Stormwater Rate
Your stormwater payment goes toward maintaining and enhancing storm sewers throughout our community. Some of the more noticeable stormwater management efforts include maintenance of catch basins that catch the flow of water from streets and stormwater basins that hold stormwater for longer periods and allow for natural treatment and replenishment of aquifers.
Stormwater changes are a part of Federal and State pollution control agency efforts and requirements to minimize pollutants from running into rivers such as the Minnesota River and other lakes and streams. Stormwater charges for the average household are $9.08 per month while other land use types (industrial and commercial) pay based on their acreage.
Refuse / Recycling / Environmental Services Rates
These rates fund the protection of the environment by providing for the operations of:
- Refuse collection throughout the community
- Recycling collection.
- Environmental Services includes:
- Operation of a yard waste drop off site; operation of a compost site; food waste “green“ composting; curbside yard waste, leaf and Christmas tree pick ups.
- Maintenance of the City's urban forest including Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) management.
- Maintenance of the downtown medians and urns as well as garbage pickup in our park
For residential customers, on your Utility Bill the service includes three line items: Refuse, Recycling, and Environmental Services (Enviro Service). Commercial customers will only see the Enviro Service charge on their bill.
